05 | BIM Manager
The “BIM Manager” describes the key role in the successful implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM). The course covers aspects of strategic planning, implementation of BIM standards, quality controls and collaborative work in a team.
Module
Role description
As part of a BIM project, BIM managers play a central role and take on a variety of tasks. They act as a point of contact for questions about BIM-based project execution and control the management processes relating to digital project execution.
Describe in accordance with VDI No. 2552 Part 7
instance
At the agreed milestones, the information manager requests the building information model from the information coordinators and checks it for quality, the required level of information and its compliance (e.g. depth of information, level of detail).”
Content of the module
Objectives of the module
- Knowledge of the tasks of a BIM manager
- Knowledge of the structure and functioning of the CDE of Autodesk BIM360
- Organization of model-based issue management
- Carrying out collision checks on the coordination model
Required theory
- CDE - Common Data Envronment
- AIA - Client Information Requirements
- IFC - Industry Foundation Class
- BCF - BIM Collaboration Format
- Issue management
- Collision checks
Required nuggets
Task
Issue management
Specifically, the task includes the following steps:
- Load the IFC files ofthe AA, AS and ON in the folder XXX high, according to AIA.
- Go to Coordination-View Model And take a look at what the CDE created there coordination model on.
- Run a Collision check By, by setting the tolerances to 10mm adjust.
- Insofar no collisions exist, add the IFC fault model and perform a new clash check.
- Pick a collision and create a task by creating the value fields in accordance with BCF useful to ask the author to correct it.
- Send this Issue as BCF to the responsible author, with a fixed deadline and a corresponding priority.
Approval processes
To do this, proceed as follows:
- Watch this Chapter 6 of the AIA on. In Chapter 6.1.1 The file name conventions for digital delivery items (digital item, DI for short) and the approval processes that must be followed are described.
- To submit a DI for review with the BIM Coordinator, complete the “Check A” approval process. After the approval process has been initiated, the DI receives the additional information”DIVIDED”.
- If the DI has been approved by the BIM coordinator, the client must approve the DI through the representative of the BIM manager. To do this, complete the “Check B” approval process. After the approval process has been initiated, the DI receives the additional information”ARCHIVED ”.
- Once the BIM manager has approved the DI, the DI is renamed “PUBLISHED” with the additional information and is therefore approved for construction.
- Monitor issue management until all DI's with the additional information”ARCHIVED “were uploaded.
