The cluster meeting took place in Hanover on 13.06.2024. The BIM Cluster Hannover is a regional network that focuses on promoting and implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the construction industry. The cluster consists of a wide range of players, including builders, planners, architects, engineers, construction companies, universities and other interest groups. The aim of the BIM Cluster Hannover is to promote the exchange of knowledge and experience on BIM, to initiate joint projects and to promote digitization in the construction industry. Through regular meetings, workshops and events, members should be supported in effectively using the BIM methodology and developing innovative solutions for sustainable construction.
At the cluster meeting, Prof. Dr. Sebastian Hollermann from the Jade University in Oldenburg presented the “Charging” and “Digital Decathlon” projects, which are carried out as training and continuing education formats in the context of BIM use cases by Jade University. These formats offer students as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) the opportunity to intensively explore the practical applications of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and expand their skills in this area.
Another point of the event was the keynote speech by Mergim Hoti, winner of the BIM Champions 2024 in the sustainability category, who spoke about the automated preparation of a life cycle assessment based on the Open BIM working methodology.
In addition, Sina Hage from Jade University presented ideas for a sustainable construction industry through a circular economy. As part of a student project, a mobile tiny house was presented, which was manufactured almost exclusively from reused (demolition) materials.
