Collaboration platforms in the area of Building Information Modeling (BIM) are digital tools that simplify project collaboration. These web-based platforms act as a central interface for project-related communication and data exchange. The Common Data Environment (CDE) ensures a uniform structuring of project execution, even across projects.
CDEs are used for project information management and serve as central project spaces in which relevant information is quickly made available to all project participants. The platforms enable controlled access to project-related information that is person-dependent and role-specific. Clear exchange processes and defined document and model statuses ensure transparency in communication and improve the exchange of information. All collaborative activities for the creation of PIM - AIM - Project / Asset Information Model take place within the CDE.
à WORK IN PROGRESS (in progress)
Non-public information developed by creator orteam.
to SHARED (get)
Shared information for sharing with others.
to PUBLISHED (published)
Information approved for detailed planning, construction or administration.
An archive container (ARCHIVED) serves as a protocol for information transfer and enables the creation of a shared information model.
Data security and the verification of information exchanges are essential. When information is transferred, the data is versioned and logged. Examples of common collaboration platforms are Aconex from Oracle, Conclude CDE and tpCDE from thinkproject. Integrated platforms such as Autodesk BIM 360 or Graphisoft BIMcloud are used for collaboration within a specialist discipline.
